Cute Ideas For Day Dates

Dating is a super fun way of getting to know someone, but do we really only have to do it in the evening? Dining out at your favourite restaurant or checking out the latest blockbuster at the cinema are great dates. But let’s not be too hasty and forget about day dates!

Day dates are usually more active than night time ones. When we hangout in the evenings, it’s usually only for drinks and a meal. Want to put a bit more spice into your love life? Suggest heading out for the day. There are loads more options when it comes to things to do. How about a seaside excursion or a day exploring a castle? Read on for some cute ideas for day dates.

Theme Parks

Take a trip to your nearest theme park. You can spend the day whizzing around on a rollercoaster and cuddling up to your partner in the ghost train! All theme parks have restaurants and cafes, so you can still have a romantic meal for two. It just won’t be a night time affair! There are plenty of photo opportunities at these kinds of parks, so you can save memories of your perfect day. Your picture may even be taken on the rides! Museums

Museums don’t have to be boring and stuffy. These days, many include interactive exhibitions, so you and your other half will have plenty of chance to get hands on. If you are both lovers of history, this gives you the perfect chance to chat about your shared interest in the subject. We are often drawn to people by their interests and intelligence. So, suggesting a museum trip could be a good way of seeing if there is long-term hope for you both!

Lunch and a Show

If dinner and a movie are reserved for dates in the evening, lunch and a show is ideal for all you daytime daters. And this gives you a great opportunity for getting glammed up as well! See what is on at your local theatre and book a couple of tickets for a matinee performance. If it is an early showing, you can always switch lunch for a fancy brunch.

Bike Ride or Hike

Why not keep fit while dating? Fill your lungs with fresh country air on an invigorating bike ride. Spend some time in the morning preparing a picnic to enjoy while you are out. Make sure your route runs through villages so you can stop of for a quick drink or a leisurely pub lunch! If you want to know some of the best places to cycle, check this site out: cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/the-best-32-places-to-ride-in-britain-part-one-35289. If you aren’t very good on two wheels, you can always turn the bike ride into a hike. You may not be able to cover as much ground, but it will still be a very enjoyable date!

So why date at night when you can enjoy a day out in the sun with your loved one?

Is Your Skin Ageing Too Fast?

Are we all keeping our fingers crossed that that the worst of the winter weather has passed? It’s been a long, cold winter. As lovely as it is to be all warm and cosy in a big wooly jumper, I’m looking forward to not have to wrap up like an Eskimo every time I go out the front door. Sometimes, you just need to feel some sunshine on your skin! I know that’s hopeful, living in the UK, but it does happen! Many people feel they look better with a tan. It’s true that a healthy complexion makes you look and feel great, but is exposing your skin to the sun the answer?

The news isn’t good. Exposure to the sun's damaging rays can not only cause skin cancer, but it also causes irreparable ageing symptoms.
Aha! You say. But I use sunscreen when I go on holiday. It's OK! Well, here’s the latest headline. That’s not enough. It’s a good start, but it’s nowhere close to giving your precious skin the protection it needs. To protect your complexion being ravaged by the sun’s harmful rays, you need to make sure it’s protected all of the time.

Picture via Craig Sunter

The sun’s rays can still cause damage to your skin in cold or cloudy weather. The harmful rays make their way through clouds. Continual exposure can lead to a weatherbeaten look. As a complexion, it’s certainly not a desirable one! Sunshine breaks down the elastic fibres in the skin, leading to sagging features. Squinting in bright light can cause crow's feet and pronounced bags under the eyes. Skin tightening procedures have become more and more in demand! This is because so many women try to undo all the years of sun damage they have unwittingly exposed themselves to.

Use a high factor sunscreen. Use it daily. Ensure sure your foundation has a good SPF factor. Wear a hat to protect your face. Always rub some into your neck and onto the back of your hands. along with your face, they’re some of the parts that age fastest.

It’s interesting looking at the statistics for cosmetic surgery. One of the most performed procedures are eye lifts. Women all over the world are desperate to hold on to their much-missed youth. But they still don’t take enough protection against the sun. A significant source of vitamin D and a fantastic tonic for anybody, the sun may be fun. But those glorious rays pose a multitude of dangers to your complexion. Why risk it? If you crave that golden glow, there are plenty of self-tanning products on the market. So-called fake tans have far surpassed the strange smelling, streaky tans of days gone by. You can choose subtle shades, think Rich Tea biscuit type tones rather than a tacky tangerine.

It’s so important you wear sunscreen. You only get one skin. It’s important to look after it and be as comfortable in yourself as you can be! Personally, my new year goal has been to keep my skin healthy as I have really dry skin, and so far it is going great - I do moisturise every day and trying my best to drink water daily.

What is your secret for a beautiful skin?

Accessories Every Woman Should Have

I love fashion. It’s great to be able to dress in a way that can so easily convey your mood and personality. Of course, clothing has a practical side too. It needs to keep you warm and dry, or cool and comfortable. It can stop you getting wet, or getting sunburnt, or from getting cold. But best of all, you can look absolutely fabulous wearing some of this season’s best designs.

Every outfit can be enhanced by accessories. And some accessories can be used to give the impression you have a completely different outfit on. Scarves, in particular, can add colour, pattern, and texture to your ensemble. I love wearing a different scarf each time I’m in the same outfit.
It never looks the same twice.

If you’re not keen on wearing something around your neck, you can always try an Irish shawl over your shoulders. Not only does it keep you warm, but it’s a great accessory to add some weight to the top half. This, in turn, gives the appearance of a slimmer waist and can help flatter chests appear larger. The texture also gives you attractive detail for the outfit too.

I love handbags. Most women do. And I have to admit I like to have a different one for each outfit. If I’m in something more formal like work wear, I like a glossy hard case bag. But when I’m casual in my jeans, a bucket bottom is perfect for all my shopping excursions. A night out calls for something hand-held rather than strappy, and coffee out usually calls for something like a satchel style. I think it’s really nice to have something to go with your mood. It doesn’t always have to be practical!

At this time of year, I am very fond of my hats. I love baggy berets because they don’t leave you with hat hair! I tried on this season’s Cossacks and found that they are pretty cute when you wear your hair down. I like to wear a scarf and hat that look good together. Black or darker gloves usually works well with anything.

I love jewellery. Earrings, necklaces and bracelets are my thing. I go through phases of preferring hoops over drops or vice versa. As for necklaces, this season is all about length, especially with high neck tops and jumpers. Bracelets look great over the top of long sleeves too. I’ve seen more and more wooden jewellery in the stores lately. Of course, I’m still a sucker for something shiny!

I think accessories are really important to finish off an outfit. Accessories can also dramatically alter the effect of your fashion too. You can turn something bland into something really punchy with just a few accessories. I’m not sure the old saying that less is more always applies to accessories. And if you have some special jewellery that has sentimental value there’s no rule that says you shouldn't wear it with certain outfits. Feel good in what you wear today.

What is your favourite accessory?

It’s a timeless look that has become a firm favourite amongst stylists, celebrities and designers. So if you’re going to a special occasion or fancy event, here’s how you can achieve a Hollywood glamour look with ease.

Use the past as inspiration

To get an authentic Hollywood look, you’re going to need plenty of inspiration. Use the internet to find images of famous actresses whose style you admire. Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly and Rita Hayworth are some brilliant examples. Also, watch old films they have appeared in that show their makeup and clothing clearly. This will give you a great starting point to start piecing together items to recreate their look. Choose an image of a stand out dress or top they wear and take this with you when you go shopping.

If you want to wear something vintage from the same era, it may take some time to source one in your size in wearable condition so keep this in mind. There are also brilliant reproduction brands who create clothing inspired by the 1940’s and 1950’s. Or if you have the budget and time, why not have it made by a dressmaker.

Red lips and waves

The most defining characteristics of the Hollywood style are red lips and vintage waves. Find a lipstick that complements your skin tone and add a sweep of black eyeliner and mascara to your eyes. You may need to practise your technique to ensure you get that flawless finish. This will create a dramatic look worthy of any celebrity party. Vintage waves can be achieved with curling tongs or heated rollers. You may need to ask a trustworthy friend to help you get even waves all the way around or ask a professional to do it for you.

Be clever with your accessories

While it’s good to combine new with old, try to think carefully about how you accessorise your look. Again, use your research to get ideas for suitable accessories, including jewellery and handbags. This will be the finishing touches to your outfit that will tie everything together.
Quality Pearl Earrings and necklaces work well with this look, as do diamonds. Small beaded bags or sleek clutch bags are perfect accessories too. If you’re going to an event in summer, also think about oversized scarves and cat-eye sunglasses for pump up the glamour of your look.

With these tips and some strong research, you can create a classic Hollywood look in no time at all. Practice your makeup and hair beforehand to make sure you get the look that you want.
You’ll be transported back into the glory days of Hollywood and feel like a real star.

How To Become More Confident In The Skin That You're In

Women all over the world will have days where they dislike the way that they look. We are constantly bombarded with images of models and celebrities looking utterly flawless. So it’s easy to compare yourself to them. Don’t forget that these images are often manipulated and edited to look a certain way. Nobody has eyelashes that full and long and skin without pores or blemishes. Being confident in your own skin is all about acceptance and loving yourself. If you’re in serious need of a confidence boost, follow this guide to get you started.

Accepting compliments

If somebody compliments the way you look, thank them and accept it. It is as simple as that. Don’t over analyse why they are complimenting you or dismiss what they have said. Whether it’s a compliment on your make-up skills or something you’re wearing. Most people will only give compliments if they really mean it. There is no need to feel embarrassed. Accepting compliments is a surefire way of feeling good about yourself so do it more often.

Don’t like something? Change it

We all have things we don’t like about ourselves. If there is something you dislike about your skin or your body, then do something about it. It could be something as simple as using a new face wash or serum or trying a new hairstyle. You might want do more exercise or get laser hair removal. Whatever it is, if it’s going to make you feel more confident, it’s worth doing. Remember that imperfections are what makes you unique and you shouldn’t feel self-conscious about them. Accept them and you’ll feel altogether happier within yourself.

Give yourself a break

You are your own worst enemy and harshest critic. Something you dislike about yourself might be something that someone else admires. Start being nicer to yourself by looking in the mirror and complimenting yourself every morning. Even if you’re feeling particularly low, this will help perk up your mood. Try to say a new thing each day and you’ll soon find your kind words will change how you perceive yourself. This is a simple exercise to begin loving every part of your body.

Don’t surround yourself with the wrong people

If your friends don’t make you feel good about yourself, they aren’t real friends. It’s time to be ruthless and remove anyone who doesn’t encourage or motivate you. Surround yourself with people who make you feel good and you’ll feel all the better for it. Also, remove anybody from Instagram or Facebook that you constantly compare yourself to. It’s a waste of time comparing yourself to others, and it can make you feel worse about yourself. Fill your social media with women who inspire individuality and acceptance to give you that real girl power feeling.

These tips will help you begin your journey to becoming more confident. It may take time to achieve fully but be patient and have fun with it. Smiling is the easiest way of looking and feeling more confident so do plenty of it every day. Your body is something that you should love and respect, not despise. As your body hang-ups melt away, you’ll become a super confident lady without a care in the world.

Products I regret buying

Products I regret buying by DovileFashion

Hello. Today's post is all about disappointing make-up products I regret buying. I'm sad they don't seem to be what I expected and I really tried to make them work, but they just doesn't work for me at all.

Products I regret buying by DovileFashion

Maybelline Super Stay 14 Hour lipstick (here and here) in shade 'Persistently Pink'.
It costs £6.99, but I bought it on ferry (duty free yay!) for £3.50 which was such a good price and I had to try it. I picked this particular colour as I liked pink/red tones. To my disappointment it's hard to apply it as it's not smooth at all. It has very little glitters which drags my lips and makes them painful. Also that same glitter will be everywhere all over my face. It's a little bit moisturising, it has sweet berry smell. It stays for about 1-2 hours if not eating or drinking. I had coffee and this lipstick left marks on coffee cup. While eating it creates such mess and after a while it fades from lips leaving lips patchy looking. The colour looks a little bit different on the skin and it doesn't suit me at all. It looks so dark! I just don't like anything about it and it's a disappointing lipstick for me.

Nude lip gloss from H&M. It has lovely colour which is very suitable for everyday use. Packaging is beautiful with that black to white ombre effect on the lid. My problem with this is that it is so drying! I can't even stand it on my lips. I feel as it drench all moisture from my already dry lips. I tried using it with a balm, or on top of other colour lip gloss - it doesn't work for me at all.

I bought this BB Cream by Osiris Avise from Lidl. I read very good review about it on Metro website (here). It costs about £2 and I really wanted to try. I picked up light colour and is very very light. It's supposed to be very good with SPF15 UV Protection. All it does to my skin is makes it look oily and shiny. It doesn't moisture, it's hard to blend and it doesn't sit nicely on skin at all - it seems that it's just disappears without doing anything. After applying all I can see is no coverage at all and just oily and waxy residue.

My biggest disappointment is this nail polish by Kelly Brook which I bought in New Look for £2.99. The colour is gorgeous, brush is very good too. Bad point: it doesn't even last one day. In a few hours it chips so badly that I'm ashamed to show my freshly painted chipped nails to anyone. I didn't expected such poor quality.

Another nail polish. This is from Primark and it costs £1. The colour is gorgeous and the brush is quote good. It lasts for about 3 good days and then it chips. I think 3 days is very good for such cheap nail polish. My problem with this is the smell. It has such strong plastic smell I can't even stand it. When painting nails all house smells like plastic factory (LOL) and once they're dry they're still smelling of plastic!

I have 2 mascaras here and let's start with bright orange one which is W7 Eyelust mascara.

Products I regret buying by DovileFashion

As you can see the brush is huge! It doesn't do a good job at all as it end up all over my eyes. The formula itself is very wet - I couldn't use it during summer because once there's warm weather it just melts. Once applied it takes a lot of time to clean up all the mess.

Another one is Famous by Sue Moxley I'm your Curl Flirtatious Lashes (£2.49 on Amazon). I got it from TK Maxx and it cost about £3. It has very small brush - it actually hurts my eyelashes and eyelids. Sometimes on a good day it works well, but most of the time need to be careful not to poke my eye with it (LOL). The formula itself is not very good - it's quote dry and needs a lot of layers just for it to show up. If you want natural look with slight blackness and little bit of curl then this is for you.

So these are all my products that I regret buying. Personally for me they did not work. I love some of those brands, but these particular products were disappointing.

Have you tried any of these? Did they work for you?

No7 Mini Eye Shadow Palette

No7 Mini Eye Shadow Palette review

For the last couple of weeks I've been trying out my new eyeshadow palette. I bought it on eBay for £6.99 which I think is a bargain price for such quality product. It arrived very quickly and was very well packed.  I took my time to test it because I really wanted to try out all the colours, see how long they're lasting, how well do they blend. During the summer I only used No7 little eyeshadow in light brown and dark brown. They were very long lasting and waterproof. I would go swimming and diving wearing No7 eyeshadow and waterproof mascara and it would last all day long without smudging or just running down my face when diving. I decided to buy full No7 palette as I loved so much during the summer.

No7 Mini Eye Shadow Palette review

This little eye shadow palette contains 8 most popular shades. They're all neutral browns and purples which I really like. They all blend very well and lasts all day long without needing to touch up during the day. None of these eyeshadow creases so you can really tell that quality is amazing.

No7 Mini Eye Shadow Palette review

Packaging itself is very sturdy and it has big mirror once open. I really love it's size as it's not too big and it is very compact. I actually thought it will be smaller, but the eyeshadows itself are not that small. It includes 3 matte shades and 5 shimmer shades. Some of them has slightly more glitter than others but it's not very noticeable anyways. It gives nice shine but not too sparkly so it's suitable for day time make up look.

No7 Mini Eye Shadow Palette review

It comes with this double ended fluffy brush which is perfect for blending. It is quite good quality, there was a little bit shredding at first but not anymore. I'm happy with this brush, but I wouldn't use it for applying eyeshadow all over the lid as it washes out colour, but it is perfect for blending darker colour in the outer corner of the eye. If you like subtle colour then it's perfect for you.

No7 Mini Eye Shadow Palette review

Here is the list of all 8 shades and it tells from which eyeshadow palettes they're taken.

No7 Mini Eye Shadow Palette review

Overall this is perfect palette. I really like the colours and they're extremely long lasting. The fact that it doesn't crease makes it superb eyesahdow palette for daily use. The only bad point is that it has a lot of fallout -  make sure to lightly tap the brush to remove all the excess otherwise it will end up being all over your eyes which is not nice at all.
Other than that it is becoming my go-to eyeshadow palette for everyday use.
